Donald's Story
Life
I was a Naval Reservist. I had a great 2 years of active duty. I became a Quartermaster 3rd Class during that 2 year period. USS Norfolk sail on one of several Unitas cruises around South America stopping in about 18 ports and cruised in the Caribbean area. After a short visit back in the Home Port of Norfolk, Va, we left again on what became a circumnavigation of the Earth. We sailed from Norfolk, Va down and around the Cape of Good Hope (Africa) into the Indian Ocean for our 11 month deployment. We cruised Persian Gulf, Red Sea, and Indian Ocean. to Wellington, New Zealand. From there to Pepete, Tahiti on to Acapulco, Mexico, through the Panama Canal and on home to Norflok,Va again. It was at this time my 2 years of active reserve duty ended and I left the active Navy to go to college and home to family. I am now with the US Government (Social Security Administration - WNPSC) and I live and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Effective 11/01/2004 I now have 32 years of government service between the U S Navy and Social Secutity Administration. I retired May 1, 2006. I was my father's full time caregiver since he had Alzheimer's. After he passed, I returned home in Walnut Creek, CA and moved to Roseville, CA and bought a House.
